Christmas is drawing nigh and most people will have to engage in purchasing the necessary gifts for their loved ones this weekend. And what better place to find some appropriate presents than one of Berlin’s christmas markets? The shopping place to be when it comes to Weihnachtsmärkte is the Opernpalais.

We have raved about the infamous “Chalet” on Alexanderplatz a couple of times – a big wooden shack in the middle of the Weihnachtsmarkt where you can join large groups of German-loving Glühwein-drinking tourists and locals who are looking for some old-school musical entertainment. One of the absolutely prettiest Weihnachtsmärkte in Berlin is the well-known tourist attraction Christmas market on the Gendarmenmarkt. And not without reason, this large market is simply stunning and offers its visitors a great and varied assortment of drinks, foods and potential Christmas purchases. Christmas times are here to stay in the snowwy city of Berlin – the perfect moment to visit even more Weihnachtsmärkte than you already have. Our next and also fabulous Weihnachtsmarkt that is completely different from the Lucia Weihnachtmarkt and the market in front of the Schloss Charlottenburg: is the Christmas market at the Gedächtniskirche. This large Weihnachtsmarkt takes up all the space around and among the notorious Gedächtniskirche.

Years ago, when I visited Berlin for the very first time in my life, I went straight to the Motzstraße, to the pulsating gay heart of Berlin. My eyes sparkled and my heart did a little headstand in my chest. I was here, finally. And officially, this restaurant was my very first discovery.
