On the beautiful Carl-Herz-Ufer with a stunning view of the canal languidly floating by and in the middle of Kreuzkölln – probably a bit more Kölln than Kreuz – you ought to pop into the brand new a.horn bar and brunch, lunch and dinner location. It is a restaurant, a brunch hot spot and a great bar all rolled into one.

On the Alte Schönhauser Allee, just down the street from the hyped Monsieur Vuong, one stumbles onto the bar- restaurant Blaues Band. It is exactly what one would expect from a bar and restaurant in Mitte. It is bright, sleek, design-y (without being too overbearing) and cosy. Upon entering, the first thing you see a large wooden round bar that looks more than welcoming with its dozens of bottles temptingly displaying their potentially intoxicating liquids. But is the food here nice?

Looking out over the Volksbühne, a classical architectural landmark in Berlin’s pulsating Bezirk Mitte, one stumbles across the small restaurant called Voss. Due to its location next door to the cult cinema Babylon, Voss is either relatively empty and relaxed – or brimming with people who have just wandered out of the cinema. Voss is a relatively large restaurant, but due to its casual atmosphere, it feels small and cosy. Its staff is always friendly and willing to lend a hand – and with its great and diverse menu with a large stamp of budgetproof-ness on it, Voss is a safe bet for any occassion.

Even though it is not really Christmas yet, some people have already had their company Christmas parties – called Weihnachtsfeier in Germany. I had mine at at the Fleischerei (the Butcher’s), where – not surprisingly - eating meat is the main focus of the restaurant. Located on the Schönhauser Allee, next door to the fast

On Monday the 22nd of November 2010, the Weihnächtsmarkte will open their doors to welcome Christmas hungry visitors. Drinking Glühwein, Eierlikör, rumpunch and eating Bratwurst and Mutzenmandeln – experience the real Christmas atmosphere at one of Berlin’s 89 Christmas markets. And of course, Good Food in Berlin will tell you where to go.

This week, I ended up in a chain restaurant. If you have read me writing about chain restaurants before, you know I am not a big fan. But sometimes you just end up in one – even without knowing it.

I had mentioned it briefly before, in our best locations for drinking a cup of coffee in Berlin. But Café Bilderbuch (Café Picture Book) deserves a lot more than a brief coffee recommendation. It is a library, a place for art, a gallery and a restaurant all in one.

If you live or hang out in Prenzlauer Berg on occassion, you may have heard of Anna Blume. It is a small (yet not too small) café/ restaurant and a plant shop rolled into one. It might come across as an odd, but very pleasurable combination and it is a place worth visiting. Anna Blume is the absolute crème de la crème when it comes to fabulous sunday brunch locations.

One Friday evening while bathing in the last remnants of summer glory in Berlin, I set out – very old fashionedly – with food partner in crime Holly. After a long three week holiday we met up for a potentially delicious meal – and we already had a goal. We were going to Vis a Vis.

The epic sausages: the bratwurst and the currywurst. Beloved essentials or hated hypes – the wurst is one of Berlin’s ultimate classics. If you are looking for an authentic meat-loving experience, you might want to pop out of the U-Bahn on the Eberswalder Straße.
