Since some of Berlin’s great sushi restaurants have closed their doors and others have blossomed – or changed for the worst, it is time for a second and current up-to-date list of the best sushi restaurants in Berlin. Sushi is and will always remain one of our biggest foodie passions. Many, many places in Berlin offer sushi as a delicious culinary experience, which makes it difficult for hungry people in Berlin to find the best and most special places. Sometimes we run into a little eatery that you would never initially enter, but which surprises you with great sushi. Some restaurants are beautiful and posh, others are more about the food than the decoration.

It had been way too long since I had sushi. For weeks, days and months my mind had secretly started pondering the possibilities of salacious sushi adventures again. However, I did not want to go to one of the many restaurant that I have been to dozens of times. Of course it is fantastic if you have your favourite place where you keep coming back to, but the need to explore new and exciting restaurants is also an important desire.

We have always loved sushi and we will remain sushi lovers forever. And a couple of months ago, we stumbled into a not-yet discovered sushi restaurant in Prenzlauer Berg. And yes, I know, there are so many sushi places in Berlin that it is insanely confusing. But because this city knows so many sushi eateries it can be really, really difficult to find a good place for eating sushi. Mikoto, however, is another very nice place with good quality sushi.

Yes, we know. It’s not Berlin, but I still think it deserves a review on this website. Not only because I myself used to live in Potsdam, but also because a great many of visitors, inhabitants and fans of Berlin will end up visiting the little touristy capital of Brandenburg.

Sushi in Neukölln is booming and blossoming. In the most multicultural and lively Bezirk of Berlin, the best and cheapest place for sushi is without a doubt Steel Shark. Fancy fresh mango salads, the greatest wan tan soup of all time or simply the most savouring sushi?

On the typical popular Bergmannstraße in Kreuzberg, in the middle of the many shops and restaurants, the rather spacious Asian food kitchen Sumo invites fans of Asian fusion and sushi to come and try their yummy foods. Then again, where did their vegetarian menu go?

One of our favourite sushi locations in Friedrichshain is Le Coq D’or (The golden cock), on the Boxhagener Straße. Only around the corner from the popular Simon Dach Kiez, is a rather semi-large restaurant with a large collection of sushi on offer. Yes, the deco might be a bit off and yes, it is not your average hoity toity super sleek sushi saloon. But do not judge a book by its cover.

After an evening of hobnobbing, nibbling and drinking cocktails at the Desigual party on Kudamm, Holly and I were still hungry.
