I used to have this silly thing with Italian restaurants and going out to dinner in them. I would always try to shy away from Italian places, fearing boring pizzas and flavourless pasta dishes. And even though such places still exist, fabulous Italian restaurants in Berlin have taught me well. After the cosy and authentic Giorgio and the conceptually exciting Lavanderia Vecchia, I am officially hooked. The newest of my indulgences: Belmonte.

We have already written about the Weinerei. We have also been here many, many times. The Weinerei is a well-known grubby-meets-chique restaurant in the center of Berlin. The most alluring of its features used to be that after eating a four course meal, each guest could choose how much money they were willing to pay. Yet, as of recently, this has changed.

I love cheese fondue and I have been wanting to eat cheese fondue ever since I moved to Berlin. Not that Berlin is the capital of cheese fondue, but there are definitely a couple of cheese-worthy places for eating warm and liquid cheeses in Germany’s Hauptstadt. It is one of those dinners that need a special occassion, however. And that is why I had not yet ventured into a restaurant location where eating cheese fondue was the main activity. Until my birthday, that is.

Valentine’s Day is almost there, once more. For the second time, this year Good Food in Berlin also comes with a personal collection of the most suitable restaurant for a special, romantic and potentially succesful evening for anyone alone or not so alone during Valentine’s in Berlin.

Maybe we do not always end up eating in the most exciting restaurants that Berlin has to offer us. We adore sushi and preemptively tend to choose familiar yet fresh eateries that we either have partially experienced or heard from before. But thankfully sometimes we get really cool and out of the ordinary tips and recommendations and we are ushered into new and exciting places. Chraazan was one of them…

I had mentioned it briefly before, in our best locations for drinking a cup of coffee in Berlin. But Café Bilderbuch (Café Picture Book) deserves a lot more than a brief coffee recommendation. It is a library, a place for art, a gallery and a restaurant all in one.

Yes, we know. It’s not Berlin, but I still think it deserves a review on this website. Not only because I myself used to live in Potsdam, but also because a great many of visitors, inhabitants and fans of Berlin will end up visiting the little touristy capital of Brandenburg.
